Companies actively hiring those who regularise residency status

Dubai: In the first two weeks of the UAE’s amnesty programme, over 4,000 individuals have been interviewed for jobs by various companies seeking to hire those who have legalised their residency status.  

The General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) in Dubai reported that this number is expected to rise as more companies join the “Towards a Safer Community” initiative, launched by the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Ports Security (ICP). 

Diverse opportunities 

As many as 22 companies have committed to the campaign, with 80 more expressing interest in joining.

Job opportunities span various fields, including construction, transportation, logistics, domestic labour, industry, and restaurants.

Job selection criteria include educational qualifications, professional experience, personal skills, and relevant certifications, along with passing company interviews and tests.

Companies offer competitive salaries, health insurance, housing, and paid leave, alongside training and professional development.

Some also provide additional support such as mentorship, financial assistance, and educational expenses for employees’ children.

Background 

The UAE's amnesty programme, launched by the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship, Customs, and Ports Security (ICP) on September 1, 2024, aims to regularise the status of individuals residing illegally in the country.

The two-month initiative allows individuals to either amend their residency status to stay legally or exit the UAE without facing fines or penalties. As of now, the programme has already benefited thousands, with over 4,000 individuals interviewed for job opportunities in Dubai.

A step towards social and economic integration

GDRFA Dubai continues to expand its private sector network to enhance job opportunities and create an integrated environment. The initiative has achieved a 100% satisfaction rate among employed individuals, reflecting its success in improving beneficiaries' quality of life.

Major General Salah Al Qamzi, Assistant Director General of Dubai’s Violators and Foreigners Follow-up Sector, highlighted inspiring success stories from the initiative. These stories reflect the administration’s commitment to providing a supportive environment through training and development.

Lieutenant General Mohamed Ahmed Al Marri, Director General of GDRFA Dubai, has noted an increase in company interest, promoting collaboration between the public and private sectors.
