Dubai: The Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) lit up several iconic tourist attractions across the UAE in orange to mark World Patient Safety Day (WPSD) on September 17.
World Patient Safety Day is observed annually to raise public awareness of patients' rights and responsibilities while promoting continuous improvement and excellence within the health system at both regional and international levels.
This occasion also emphasizes the significance of accurate diagnoses and the collective responsibility of health authorities to maintain the highest healthcare standards, focusing on the ongoing development of healthcare professionals' skills.
This year’s theme, "Improving diagnosis for patient safety," highlights the crucial role of precise and timely diagnoses in ensuring patient well-being.
Landmarks and awareness campaigns
Key landmarks illuminated by MoHAP include the Dubai Frame, Sharjah Monument, Fujairah Fort, the Clock Roundabout in Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah Customs, and the Ras Al Khaimah Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
In addition to these visual tributes, the Ministry disseminated educational messages through digital platforms, emphasising the significance of patient safety through accurate and early diagnosis.
Adhering to international standards
HE Dr Hussain Abdul Rahman Al Rand, Assistant Undersecretary for the Public Health Sector, noted that the Ministry continually develops health policies and implements programmes dedicated to ensuring patient safety in diagnosis and treatment.
This involves training healthcare professionals and establishing standards for medical practices in health facilities, aligning them with the highest international benchmarks.
