At the heart of the iPhone 16e is the A18 chip, Apple’s latest-generation processor. It delivers 80 percent faster performance compared to the A13 Bionic chip found in the iPhone 11, ensuring smooth multitasking and an enhanced mobile gaming experience. The 4-core GPU supports hardware-accelerated ray tracing, providing console-like graphics on a smartphone.
6.1-inch display and tougher design
The iPhone 16e features a 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display, ensuring vibrant colours and deep contrasts. The screen is protected by Ceramic Shield, making it more durable than standard smartphone glass. Apple has also enhanced the device’s water and dust resistance with an IP68 rating, making it more resilient in everyday conditions.
Camera upgrades: 48MP Fusion Sensor
Photography enthusiasts will appreciate the 48MP Fusion camera, which integrates a 2x Telephoto lens, effectively providing the versatility of a dual-camera setup. The camera system is designed for high-resolution shots, improved low-light photography with Night mode, and optical-quality zoom.
For selfie lovers, the TrueDepth front camera ensures sharper images, autofocus, and enhanced Portrait mode effects. Video recording capabilities include 4K recording at 60fps with Dolby Vision, promising high-quality footage.

First-ever Apple C1 modem
One of the most significant changes in the iPhone 16e is the introduction of Apple’s first-ever in-house modem, the C1. This modem ensures faster and more reliable 5G connectivity while being more power-efficient than previous models.
Additionally, the device includes satellite communication features, such as Emergency SOS, Roadside Assistance, and Messages via Satellite, allowing users to stay connected even in remote areas.
Action Button and iOS 18
The Action Button, a feature introduced in higher-end models, is now available in the iPhone 16e. Users can customise this button to quickly access functions such as the camera, flashlight, voice memos, or even third-party apps like Shazam.
Running on iOS 18, the iPhone 16e benefits from new Apple Intelligence-powered features, smarter Siri capabilities, and improved privacy controls. The software update ensures that users get the latest security and functionality enhancements.
Battery Life and Charging
Apple claims the iPhone 16e offers the best battery life ever on a 6.1-inch iPhone, lasting six hours longer than the iPhone 11 and up to 12 hours longer than previous iPhone SE models.
Charging options include USB-C connectivity and wireless charging, aligning with Apple’s transition towards universal charging standards.
