DUBAI: The Dubai Gold Souk Extension has introduced a new Ramadan initiative, the ‘Souk of Giving’, recognising the city’s taxi and tour bus drivers.
Running from 10 to 25 March 2025, the initiative provides complimentary Iftar packages to those working tirelessly to transport residents and visitors across the city.
Every evening, drivers head to the Dubai Gold Souk Extension information desk to collect their Iftar by presenting a valid RTA or official tour operator ID.
On the first day alone, over 100 drivers participated, highlighting the importance of the initiative in supporting the community.
More than a simple meal, the ‘Souk of Giving’ is a tribute to the dedication of Dubai’s drivers, reinforcing the values of generosity and hospitality during Ramadan.
‘Souk of Giving’
“The Souk of Giving initiative reflects the UAE leadership’s vision of a strong and united community, as championed through this year’s national initiative, the 'Year of Community.' At the Dubai Gold Souk Extension, we are committed to embracing the spirit of generosity that defines both the Holy Month of Ramadan and the values of the nation,” said Rashid Al Harmoodi, Senior Director of Property Management, Ithra Dubai. He emphasised that sharing Iftar meals contributes to an inclusive and empowered society, where kindness and shared responsibility drive collective progress.
