ABU DHABI: The highly anticipated Zayed Sports Tournament for Juniors 2025 has concluded on a high note, marking yet another successful edition hosted by Erth Abu Dhabi.

Held in collaboration with the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood and the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, the event celebrated the sporting spirit of young athletes while paying tribute to the legacy of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. His steadfast belief in the power of sports as a unifying force continues to inspire generations, promoting discipline, teamwork, and excellence.

This year’s tournament saw a significant increase in participation, with a strong presence of young UAE Nationals across multiple sporting disciplines. The event brought together promising athletes from the region and beyond, underscoring the UAE’s commitment to youth development and fostering a culture of sportsmanship.

Zayed Sports Tournament for Juniors 2025

The tournament showcased exceptional performances in football, jiu-jitsu, chess, gymnastics, and swimming. Leading clubs and academies from across the UAE and international teams took part in the competitions, highlighting the depth of young talent.

Teams from top clubs and academies competed in the Under-10 and Under-12 categories, delivering thrilling matches.

Football remained one of the most fiercely contested categories, with both Under-10 and Under-12 teams competing for top honours. The Under-10 division witnessed an intense battle as Al Wahda FC clinched the gold medal, while Wolves Academy and First Star Academy secured second and third place, respectively. In the Under-12 category, Al Wahda FC continued their dominance, claiming first place, followed by Regional Sports in second and Real Madrid Academy in third.

Jiu-jitsu proved to be another highlight, with teams such as The Force for Sports, Etizan Fitness, Delariva Abu Dhabi & Al Raha, UAE Jiu-Jitsu Club, UAE JJ, and Cobra RAK delivering remarkable performances. Their technical skill and discipline were on full display, further solidifying the UAE’s reputation as a global hub for jiu-jitsu excellence.

International participation grows

Beyond traditional team sports, the tournament saw outstanding participation in other disciplines. Chess competitions featured 153 young strategists, each demonstrating impressive tactical prowess. Gymnastics attracted 111 athletes from six different countries – UAE, Latvia, Kenya, Russia, Lebanon, and Bahrain – showcasing a high level of international engagement.

Swimming events also drew strong participation, with 122 competitors taking to the pool to vie for top positions. The event’s inclusivity across multiple sports underscored its role in nurturing young talent and preparing future champions.
