Dubai: Pakistani music maestro Rahat Fateh Ali Khan debunked recent rumours of his arrest in Dubai head-on, dismissing them as false. He posted a candid video, explaining his part of the story, on social media platform X on Monday, July 22.
Rahat, equally popular both in Pakistani and India, reassured his fans, declaring, "I am Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, your Rahat Fateh Ali Khan. I came to Dubai to record songs. Everything is fine. Please ignore these rumours. These reports are not true. I am in Dubai to record songs."
Speculation about Khan's alleged arrest surfaced alongside the defamation complaint reportedly filed by his former manager, Salman Ahmed, following a purported termination of services months earlier.
Khan debunked these assertions and sought support from his fanbase. "You are my power. My audience and fans are my power. After God, my fans are my power, and I will return to Pakistan after recording a few super-hit songs, I request my fans to continue the support," Khan assured.
Earlier this year, Khan made headlines following a controversial video showing him slapping one of his students on misplacing a bottle that Rahat later said carried water sanctified by a pir.
He was awarded an honorary degree by the Oxford University in 2019. The singer was recognized by the university as a “Pakistani singer, primarily of Qawwali”, and was accredited for more than 50 albums, over one billion views online, more than 50 title tracks of television serials, and over 100 film songs in both Hollywood and Bollywood.
