ABU DHABI: The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) has confirmed that private sector employees in the UAE will enjoy a two-day paid holiday on December 2 and 3 to commemorate the 53rd Eid Al Etihad.

This announcement ensures a long weekend for workers, as regular operations will resume on Wednesday, December 4.

MoHRE extended warm wishes to the UAE’s leadership, citizens, and residents, expressing pride in the nation’s progress and unity. The holiday aligns with the 2024 Cabinet-approved public holiday schedule for both the public and private sectors.

The Federal Authority for Government Human Resources earlier declared a four-day break for public sector employees, beginning Saturday, November 30, through Tuesday, December 3. This extended weekend includes regular weekly days off, allowing federal employees to return to work on Wednesday, December 4.

This synchronised break reflects the country’s unified approach to celebrating its National Day, rebranded as Eid Al Etihad to underscore national unity.

Celebrating Eid Al Etihad

Marking the historic unification of the Emirates, this year’s Eid Al Etihad celebrations promise a range of eco-conscious and culturally vibrant activities. Residents and visitors can look forward to:

  • Fireworks: Spectacular displays at JBR Beach, Al Seef, Hatta, and Dubai Festival City Mall.
  • Cultural performances: The Firdaus Orchestra will perform free concerts at Expo City Dubai.
