Emirates rolls out Lunar New Year celebrations with special menus and offers
Ring in the Year of the Snake with exclusive inflight and lounge festivities
DUBAI: Emirates is ushering in the Lunar New Year with a host of exclusive offerings for its customers, marking the arrival of the Year of the Snake on 29 January 2025.
From curated menus in Emirates lounges to specially crafted desserts and traditional ‘red envelopes’, the airline has designed a festive experience across its global network.
Passengers flying on select routes can also enjoy a rich selection of Mandarin and Cantonese movies onboard, enhancing the festive mood.
Special menus
On 29 January, Emirates Lounges in Dubai will come alive with a range of special dishes inspired by the Lunar New Year. The airline’s lounges will serve a delicious breakfast spread featuring steamed rice noodle rolls stuffed with dried prawn and scallops, known as ‘Cheung Fun’.
At lunch and dinner, guests in the First Class lounge will indulge in soya-glazed beef short ribs, while both First and Business Class passengers can enjoy poached shrimp dumplings, Chinese rainbow salad, or pan-seared Chilean seabass with XO sauce.
For dessert, the lounge will offer a choice of strawberry lychee cake or black sesame cake, adding a sweet touch to the celebrations. Additionally, a limited-edition gourmet ice cream cart will be available, serving matcha green tea ice cream crafted by Emirates chefs.
The festive offerings extend beyond Dubai, with Emirates lounges in Singapore, Bangkok, Beijing, Shanghai, and Hong Kong also treating customers to special Lunar New Year menus. In Singapore, passengers can enjoy king prawns infused with soya and pan-fried duck, while those in Bangkok will savour goji berry chicken soup and assorted dim sum.
Meanwhile, Beijing’s lounge will serve Kung Pao prawns and Eight Treasure rice, and Shanghai’s lounge features a sweet and sour mandarin seabass dish. In Hong Kong, customers can feast on scallops with broccoli and traditional rice dumplings in fragrant osmanthus flower soup.
Desserts and Lucky Red envelopes
Between 28 January and 3 February, passengers flying between Dubai and destinations such as Beijing, Guangzhou, Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh, Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur, Shanghai, Singapore, and Taipei will be treated to a specially crafted dessert. The lychee, rose, and raspberry mousse cake, paired with pâte sablée and white chocolate, will be served in First, Business, and Premium Economy Class. Economy Class passengers will enjoy a creamy taro coconut sago dessert with sweetened fruits and red beans. In addition, across some routes, passengers in all classes will receive a traditional red envelope filled with chocolate coins, symbolising prosperity and good fortune for the new year.
EmiratesRED Love & Luck Sale
In celebration of the Lunar New Year, Emirates is offering customers the chance to shop the EmiratesRED onboard sale, running from 28 January to 28 February 2025. Customers who purchase two or more specially marked items will receive an additional 10% discount on a selection of popular duty-free products. The sale also includes an exclusive inflight offer of a US$15 discount when purchasing two fragrances.
Mandarin and Cantonese movies on ICE
Emirates is ensuring that passengers can get into the festive spirit with an impressive selection of movies in Mandarin and Cantonese available on the airline’s ICE entertainment system. A total of 22 Mandarin and 13 Cantonese films will be available, including popular titles like Ride On, All Shall Be Well, Table for Six 2, and We Are Family. In addition to these, more than 350 Hollywood movies with Chinese subtitles will also be available for customers to explore. A rich collection of 115 Chinese albums and over 1,000 songs will complement the in-flight entertainment, offering a delightful soundtrack to the holiday season.
Lunar New Year celebrations for all
Emirates is inviting all its customers to experience the festive offerings at its lounges. First Class and Business Class passengers enjoy complimentary access, as do Silver, Gold, and Platinum Skywards members. For other travellers, the lounge is available for a fee starting from US$125, allowing guests to enjoy the lounge facilities for up to four hours before their flight.
