Dubai Run transforms the busiest highway Sheikh Zayed Road into an iconic running track
Dubai: A record-breaking number of community members including residents and tourists turn up on Sunday to participate in the Dubai Run—now deemed as the world’s largest free run.
Thousands of people of all age groups including women and children transformed Sheikh Zayed Road -- city’s busiest highway -- into the world’s largest and most iconic running track by participating in the Dubai Run 2024.
The event, led by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence of the UAE, and Chairman of the Executive Council of Dubai, celebrated health and well-being. It was the grand finale of the monthlong Dubai Fitness Challenge.

Age and ability were no barrier for participants. Among the inspiring sights were people of determination, individuals with other disabilities, fitness groups, associations, friends and families, young and old, united in creating lasting memories.
In a carnival atmosphere, music echoed through the streets. While some participants aimed to beat their records, others walked together in groups. But for most, it was simply an ‘I was there’ moment.
