If you’re looking to travel to Oman from the UAE, there are many ways to get there without taking a short flight. Oman is a popular destination for UAE residents looking for a quick weekend getaway or a short vacation due to its stunning landscapes and warm hospitality. Whether you want to explore the wadis, relax on the white beaches, or trek the majestic mountains, the Sultanate has something to offer every type of traveller.

If you are not keen on driving for 4 hours and 33 minutes from Dubai to Muscat or if you find the cost of a one-hour flight from DXB to MCT (approximately Dh1,000) too steep, you have the option of taking budget-friendly buses between the UAE and Oman. These buses are a convenient and economical option for travellers looking to explore the Sultanate without spending too much money. Today, we will discuss the different bus options available and the documents required to travel to Oman from the UAE.

On February 27, 2024, the public transport company Mwasalat launched a bus service that provides four trips, two from Sharjah and two from Muscat, operated through Shinas. The first bus from Sharjah departs at 6:30 am from Al Jubail Bus Station and reaches Azaiba Bus Station at 2:30 pm. The second bus departs from Sharjah at 4 pm and arrives in Muscat at 11:50 pm. On the other hand, the bus from Muscat departs at 6:30 am and reaches Sharjah at 3:40 pm. The second bus leaves Muscat at 4 pm and reaches Al Jubail Bus Station at 1:10 am.

If you’re a UAE resident planning to travel to Oman via bus, you must have the following documents. Before leaving the UAE, you must pay an exit fee of Dh36 at the border. Upon arrival at the Oman border, you can obtain an Oman visa by paying Dh50. This information should be helpful if you are planning a trip to Oman from the UAE.
