Dubai:  A new study by global talent solutions firm Robert Walters has revealed that a significant number of professionals in the UAE are hesitant to accept job offers from companies whose CEOs they do not resonate with. Over a third (34%) of job seekers would reconsider or decline a job offer based on the company's CEO, even if they liked their potential line manager.

CEO's influence on the workplace 

The study, which surveyed 1,000 white-collar professionals, found that CEOs play a pivotal role in shaping workplace culture and attracting top talent. Two-thirds of respondents (66%) believe that the CEO has the biggest impact on a company's culture, surpassing mid-management and employees.

Key factors in CEO relationships

Trust and transparency are essential elements in the relationship between CEOs and their employees.

The study found that 60% of professionals do not trust their leaders to do what is right, and almost half (48%) attribute this distrust to hidden agendas and corporate politics.

Authentic leadership

CEOs who lead by example and demonstrate empathy and listening skills are seen as most valuable by professionals. Over half (53%) of respondents believe that such CEOs bring the most value to a company.

UAE's high levels of trust in leadership

The UAE, known for its strong emphasis on loyalty, respect, and trust, has a high level of trust in its leaders. According to Edelman's 2023 Trust Barometer, the UAE is ranked the third most trusted country in the world. This reflects the respondents' belief that the government, businesses, and NGOs in the UAE are competent and ethical.
