Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has introduced free WiFi at 29 public transport stations across the city.

The service, launched in partnership with e& (Etisalat), is now available at 17 bus stations and 12 marine transport stations.

The initiative aims to provide seamless connectivity for commuters, allowing them to browse, check emails, and stream content while waiting for their ride. According to RTA, the move aligns with Dubai’s goal of becoming the world’s smartest and happiest city.

Expansion by mid-2025

RTA officials confirmed that the WiFi network will expand to cover all 43 bus and marine transport stations by the second quarter of 2025. Currently, installation work is in progress for an additional 21 bus stations and 22 marine transport stations.

Khalid Al Awadhi, Director of Transportation Systems at RTA’s Public Transport Agency, highlighted the significance of the project: "This initiative ensures passengers enjoy a more connected and convenient commuting experience. The remaining installations are progressing at full speed, and we expect full completion by mid-2025."

RTA has assured that the WiFi service will be regularly evaluated and upgraded in collaboration with e& to provide high-speed internet access for all public transport users.
