DUBAI: In an unprecedented event for the world of motorsports, Formula Woman’s first-ever Global Nations Cup qualifying round is set to take place at Dubai Autodrome on December 12.
The event brings together 50 elite female drivers from 25 countries, all competing for a spot in the inaugural Formula Woman Global Nations Cup, scheduled to return to Dubai in May 2025.
Formula Woman Global Nations Cup
This new global initiative is the first professional motorsport circuit designed specifically for female drivers. It aims to elevate women in the motorsport world, from passionate beginners to experienced race drivers, with the ultimate goal of forming an all-female team to compete in the prestigious 24-Hour Le Mans endurance race. The series has already attracted an international fanbase of over 5,000 members and has gained substantial attention within the racing industry.
Why Dubai?
Graeme Glew, Founder and CEO of Formula Woman and a former Formula One executive, chose Dubai as the setting to launch this transformative racing series, citing the Dubai Autodrome as “the perfect setting” to showcase the talents of these accomplished female drivers. Glew expressed his excitement, saying, “We’re so excited to come to Dubai to give race fans there, and around the globe, the opportunity to see what our fabulously talented women drivers are capable of.”
Which countries are competing?
The line-up will feature women drivers from 25 different countries, including four from the UAE: Sofia Necci, Amal AlMheiri, Darcy Mead, and Manon Robillard. Also competing from the region are Saudi Arabia’s Farrah Alyousef, Lebanon’s Stephanie Hobeika, Qatar’s Nuha Koghali and India’s Manisha Ram Kelkar.
Glew elaborated on the mission of Formula Woman, saying, “We know that there is a reservoir of female driving stars out there just waiting to show the world what they can do, and Formula Woman will give them the opportunity to do just that.”
