Challenge Sir Bani Yas 2025 brings elite racing to UAE’s first island triathlon

ABU DHABI: Excitement is mounting as Challenge Sir Bani Yas 2025, the UAE’s first-ever island triathlon, prepares to welcome athletes and spectators on 5-6 April.
With just 10 days to go, the event promises an adrenaline-fuelled weekend of world-class competition, community races, and unforgettable island experiences.
Held under the patronage of Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al-Nahyan, the event is organised by Capital 360 Event Experiences, part of the ADNEC Group, in collaboration with the Abu Dhabi Sports Council and Challenge Family.
Whether competing for glory, testing personal limits, or simply enjoying the spectacle, participants will experience an unparalleled sporting event in a breathtaking location.
Race categories
Competitors of all levels can choose from three official triathlon distances:
- Long Distance: 3.8km swim, 180km cycle, 42.2km run
- Middle Distance: 1.9km swim, 96km cycle, 21.1km run
- Olympic Distance: 1.5km swim, 45km cycle, 10km run
In a major draw for UAE-based triathletes, the Middle and Olympic Distance races double as official qualifiers for the 2025 World Triathlon Championships in Australia.
Beyond the main races, Community Races cater to all ages and fitness levels, offering a mix of swimming, cycling, and running events. For those looking to embrace the island’s natural beauty, the Beach & Mangrove Challenges will feature swim-and-dash races and high-energy kayak sprints.
