DUBAI: Careem has shared key insights into customer behaviour across its Everything App during Ramadan 2025, showcasing notable shifts in grocery shopping, food orders, donations, international remittances, and dining trends.

The holy month saw heightened engagement, with in-app donations surging by 240 percent, grocery orders spiking by 70 percent at Suhoor, and the largest single saving on Careem DineOut reaching Dh6,760.

Surge in food orders

Careem Food saw a significant rise in demand, particularly during Suhoor, with order volumes increasing by 36 percent in March compared to February. The most frequently ordered Suhoor items included The Big Feast from McDonald’s and Plain Paratha from Punjab Flower Restaurant. For Iftar, customers in Dubai favoured the 8-piece Wings Meal from Wingstop, while in Abu Dhabi, the Special Haleem from Ritaj Restaurant was a top choice.

Careem Food orders soared during Ramadan 2025, with Suhoor favourites leading the way.

Some customers indulged in lavish feasts, with the largest single Careem Food order in Dubai exceeding Dh2,460 for 10 items from Café Bateel. In Abu Dhabi, the most expensive order totalled Dh1,410 for 12 items from Behrouz Biryani.

Donations and transfers

Careem’s in-app donation service, Right Click, experienced an overwhelming 240 percent increase in total contributions to charities across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Jordan compared to the previous month.

Careem Pay also recorded a 6 percent rise in international transfers, led by a 10 percent jump in remittances to India. Several users reached the monthly transfer cap of Dh450,000, reflecting a surge in gifting and charitable giving. One customer made 46 separate transfers to Pakistan throughout the month, while Pakistan saw the largest overall increase in transfer volumes.

Dining and grocery trends

Careem DineOut emerged as a preferred platform for Iftar and Suhoor reservations. Popular Dubai venues included QD’s at Dubai Creek Resort, Lulu & The Beanstalk in DIFC, and Wagamama at Dubai Hills Mall. In Abu Dhabi, diners favoured Tuk Tuk Restaurant in Khalifa City, Pho 7, and The Irish Vickers.

One customer booked through Careem DineOut 31 times during Ramadan, making them the most active user. Another managed to save over Dh4,650 in just three bookings, highlighting the platform’s value. The highest single saving recorded was Dh6,760 on a Dh27,000 booking for the Terrace Iftar at JW Marriott Marquis.

Careem Groceries saw a surge in activity, with orders placed around Iftar (5–6 pm) rising by 25 percent and those at Suhoor (4 am) spiking by 70 percent. Overall, grocery orders increased by 8 percent in March compared to February, with the busiest evening hour shifting from 7–8 pm before Ramadan to 4–5 pm during the month.

The largest single grocery order in Dubai totalled over Dh2,800 for 60 items, while Abu Dhabi’s biggest order exceeded Dh1,400 for 42 items. Among the most frequently ordered items were bananas, bottled water, cucumbers, and blueberries. The fastest recorded grocery delivery took just 1.5 minutes to Al Safa Park Complex in Dubai, with Abu Dhabi close behind at 2 minutes to Najmat Tower on Al Reem Island.

Peak ride-hailing hours

Careem Rides saw a shift in peak travel times, with the busiest hour in the UAE recorded at 3:00 pm, likely influenced by shorter office hours. Popular ride destinations in Dubai included Business Bay, Dubai Mall, and The Palm, while Abu Dhabi’s most frequented locations were Downtown and Hudariyat.
