KARACHI: The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has categorically denied allegations that it has stopped issuing visas to Pakistani nationals.

Addressing the media in Pakistani city of Karachi, UAE Consul General Dr Bakheet Ateeq Al Remeithi dismissed these claims as false. “A lie has been propagated for two years that the UAE was not issuing visas to Pakistanis,” he said.

Dr Remeithi emphasised that those seeking visas should directly approach the UAE visa centre for assistance, ensuring an official and transparent process.

UAE stands with Pakistan

The consul general reaffirmed the UAE's commitment to Pakistan, citing orders from his government to maintain robust relations with Islamabad. "We have instructions to stand with Pakistan," he said.

He also revealed plans for significant economic investments in the country. “Big announcements regarding UAE investments in Pakistan will be made in the next month or two,” he stated, adding that prior investments have already yielded positive outcomes.

Highlighting the partnership between the two nations, Dr Remeithi underscored the UAE’s role in fostering economic growth in Pakistan.

His remarks follow a rebuttal issued by Pakistan’s Embassy in the UAE, which categorically denied media reports alleging visa restrictions. The embassy labelled such reports as baseless, clarifying that no official document citing a ban or restrictions had been issued.

The rumours had reportedly stemmed from claims about a proposed visa ban discussed during a UAE cabinet meeting. However, both the UAE and Pakistani authorities dismissed these as unfounded.

Clear path for visa applicants

Reiterating his earlier statement, Dr Remeithi encouraged all visa aspirants to approach the UAE visa centre to address their queries. His statement, “Whoever wants to get a visa should come to the UAE visa centre,” underscores the UAE’s transparent and official procedures for visa issuance.
