The UAE is gearing up for its 53rd Eid Al Etihad celebrations on December 2, marking the nation’s unity and progress since 1971.

To ensure a safe and joyous holiday, the Ministry of Interior has issued 14 key rules aimed at maintaining public safety and order during the festivities.

With a four-day weekend ahead, residents can look forward to vibrant events across the Emirates while adhering to these important guidelines.

Traffic rules

The Ministry has stressed strict adherence to traffic regulations. Residents are reminded to:

  • Avoid random marches or gatherings.
  • Ensure vehicle licence plates remain visible at all times.
  • Refrain from obstructing traffic or blocking roads, especially for emergency vehicles.
  • Perform no stunts on internal or external roads, which can pose significant risks.

Authorities have clarified that breaching these rules could lead to penalties, including fines and impoundment of vehicles.

Vehicle Decoration guidelines

With vehicle decorations being a hallmark of the celebrations, specific restrictions are in place:

  • Stickers or flags must adhere to official guidelines and be exclusively related to Eid Al Etihad.
  • Unauthorised vehicle modifications, including those causing noise or obstructing vision, are prohibited.
  • Windows, including side, front, and rear, must not be covered with stickers or darkened beyond legal limits.

Additionally, drivers and passengers should not use party sprays, as they may compromise safety and visibility.

Cultural Conduct rules

Celebrants are urged to maintain cultural sensitivity and avoid excessive displays. Guidelines include:

  • Only wearing scarves designed for Eid Al Etihad.
  • Raising only the UAE flag; flags of other countries are not permitted.
  • Limiting the volume of songs and chants to official Eid Al Etihad tracks.

Decoration shops have been warned against selling unauthorised stickers or flags, ensuring uniformity and respect for national symbols.

Dubai will host six days of celebrations, featuring acrobatic performances, fireworks, shopping deals, and culinary experiences from November 28 to December 3.

In Sharjah, public museums in the city, Kalba, and Khorfakkan will offer free entry on December 1 and 2. The emirate’s activities will be centred around cultural and tourist hotspots.

Umm Al Quwain plans five days of festivities, including fireworks, parades, and magic shows at Al Khor Waterfront. Similarly, Fujairah will host events in Dibba Al Fujairah, Masafi, and other locations.

The official Eid Al Etihad ceremony will take place in Al Ain, set against its scenic landscapes, often attended by the UAE’s rulers and dignitaries.
