Dubai Police have confirmed that 18 delivery riders lost their lives in road accidents this year, underscoring the growing safety concerns for motorcyclists.

This figure was highlighted in a recent awareness campaign video urging riders to adhere to traffic regulations.

Statistics reveal a sharp rise in traffic offences involving delivery motorcycles, with 77,227 violations recorded in 2024, up from 60,471 in 2023. These include severe infractions like sudden swerving, overtaking from the shoulder, and distractions, which have been major contributors to accidents.

Confiscations

Dubai Police confiscated 26,382 motorcycles this year due to traffic violations, a significant jump from 12,209 seizures in 2023. The increase coincides with a notable rise in road accidents, from 385 incidents last year to 428 in 2024.

In the past four years, 181 delivery riders have sustained severe injuries in road mishaps. The police campaign emphasises the importance of staying vigilant, obeying traffic laws, and using designated lanes to prevent further tragedies. Officials continue to urge delivery companies and riders to prioritise safety.
