Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) successfully rolled out 20 Ramadan community initiatives, benefiting 55,000 individuals across the city.
The projects, held throughout Ramadan 2025, focused on supporting diverse groups, including people of determination, orphans, delivery bike riders, truck drivers, and public transport users.
RTA employees and volunteers actively participated in delivering these initiatives across various locations, such as metro stations, marine transport hubs, and workers’ accommodations. The authority collaborated with key organisations, including Dubai Police, Dubai Charity Association, Al Etihad Charity Foundation, and Beit Al Khair Society, to ensure a wide-reaching impact.
Key initiatives
The Ramadan Iftar Meal project, a major initiative in partnership with the Dubai Charity Association, provided meals to 30,000 individuals. Additionally, the Meals on Wheels campaign catered to 15,500 beneficiaries, including bus drivers, delivery bike riders, and abra operators. Another 5,000 individuals engaged in community activities at metro stations, enhancing their Ramadan experience.
To support low-income families, RTA introduced the Ramadan Rations initiative, distributing 1,000 nol cards in alignment with Zayed Humanitarian Day. This contribution aimed to ease financial burdens and promote social solidarity during the holy month.
Volunteer engagement
RTA’s commitment to social responsibility was further reflected in its volunteer-driven efforts. More than 350 RTA employees contributed a total of 1,500 volunteer hours, reinforcing the authority’s mission to nurture a culture of giving.
"Our goal is to evaluate and enhance the impact of our social initiatives by tracking engagement, beneficiaries, and volunteer contributions," said Abdullah Yousef Al Ali, CEO of the Corporate Administrative Support Services Sector at RTA. "Through these efforts, we strive to build a more cohesive society with sustainable community projects that make a tangible difference."
Eid celebrations
As Ramadan is about to conclude, RTA has extended its outreach through Eid Al-Fitr celebrations. Activities at the Senior Citizens Council of the Community Development Authority featured cultural performances, traditional games, and artistic workshops. The Eid Joy initiative, hosted at the Etisalat Metro Station, included the distribution of gifts to senior citizens, orphans, and people of determination.
RTA collaborated with partners such as Keolis-MHI, Dar Al Hay Tailoring, Twigs Flower House, and Toys "R" Us to distribute Eid gifts to workers, further fostering community spirit.
In the final week of Ramadan, RTA marked UAE Reads by organising reading and writing workshops for employees’ children in collaboration with Huawei Community. Copies of Salama Magazine were distributed to encourage literacy and engagement in national initiatives..
