UAE:  The UAE has ranked the number two spot for the world's hardest-working nation.

A recent study conducted by communications agency Duke+mir, dives into the daily lives of UAE residents, revealing a fascinating contrast. While residents clock an average of 50.9 hours a week at their jobs, they also prioritise leisure activities.

The report also delves into in-home leisure activities. It reveals that over 80% of residents enjoy movie nights at home, while nearly 70% tune in to live sports broadcasts.

However, the study uncovers an interesting trend in the digital age: a significant number of residents have unused subscriptions. Nearly a third of those surveyed expressed a desire to cancel these underutilized accounts, potentially representing millions in wasted spending.

A whopping 97% of those surveyed reported venturing out for entertainment at least once a month.

Residents embrace a "Work Hard, Play Hard" mentality

The Duke+mir study, which surveyed over 1,000 residents, paints a clear picture of the UAE's energetic lifestyle. Seven out of ten residents eat out every week, highlighting the dynamic blend of productivity and enjoyment in the Emirates.

Commenting on the report's findings, Mir Murtaza Khurshid, Partner at Duke+mir, said, "This study underscores the UAE's status as one of the globe's most industrious nations. Emirati nationals and expatriate workers alike contribute tirelessly to the UAE's meteoric rise, all while embracing the ethos of work-life balance. Anchored by an array of exhilarating entertainment options, the UAE epitomizes the ethos of 'work hard, play hard' on a global scale."

Strong engagement in sports and entertainment

The research aligns with the UAE's vision of a healthy and active population. The study found a high level of sports participation, with two-thirds of respondents engaging in physical activity weekly. This figure jumps to an impressive 75% among young adults aged 18-24.

The study also explores the diverse range of leisure activities enjoyed by UAE residents. Weekly outings to live sports events, cinemas, and live performances showcase the nation's enthusiasm for cultural enrichment and entertainment.

UAE: A nation dedicated to excellence with time for fun

As the UAE strives for a balance between professional dedication and personal fulfillment, the Duke+mir report offers a multifaceted view of the nation's commitment to excellence. This dedication is balanced by an undeniable appreciation for leisure and recreation.
