Pakistanis living in the United Arab Emirates need to know about these tips!

Dubai: Pakistan Consulate General in Dubai has released a video in a bid to create awareness among Pakistanis coming to the UAE on visit visas and employment visas. 

The informative video is all the more important to create awareness as the UAE has given two-month grace period to illegal residence to rectify their legal status without any fines or ban. The amnesty programme which started on September 1 will end on October 31. Thousands of illegal residence including Pakistanis have so far benefitted from the amnesty scheme.

Hussain Mohammad, Consul General of Pakistan in Dubai said: "The purpose of this video is to guide Pakistanis in the UAE and those coming here to be aware of local laws and their rights and responsibilities so they don't get into any sort of legal trouble."

Important points highlighted in the video

  • Pakistanis working in the UAE, need to verify their work permit via GDRFA website.
  • Companies giving the employment to the individuals need to be verified via u.ae website, or contact the Pakistan consulate in Dubai and Embassy in Abu Dhabi.
  • Working individuals need to be aware of labour laws and the rules via www.mohre.gov.ae
  • Need to be aware about the visa and immigration problems visit any Amer centre.
  • To be aware of your rights, make sure to know the pertinent numbers of hospitals, police and Pakistan's embassy in Abu Dhabi's number.
  • If you face harassment, domestic violence or any sort of violence immedieately report it to the police.
  • Ministry of Human Resources need to be aware of the labour law violations, but within one year.
  • Medical records, employment records, visa copies, and residence address need to be kept with you and share it with the trustees.
  • Trust on the certified and legal ways of sharing remittance.
  • Be aware of the cybercrimes and keep your bank account and credit cards safe.
  • Get your medical insurance and unemployment insurance from your insurance, and the UAE government has also provided ILOE insurance scheme.

More important guidelines

These points were highlighted by Junaid Murtaza, Community Welfare Consular at the Consulate General Pakistan in Dubai. He has also urged the Pakistani community to follow the guidelines to portray Pakistan's positive image.

  • Never share religious content on social media which could harm any individual's religious sentiments. 
  • Never share extremism content regarding any religion on social media sites.
  • Never share any content that promotes, human smuggling or promotes nudity. 
  • Never share your opinion on policies of other countries on your social media.
  • Never incite anyone on social media or bully anyone. 
  • Don't participate in any protest until or unless you haven't taken permission from the concern department. 
  • Never share falsified information about the dignitaries in the UAE and the government. 
  • Don't promote hate speech on social media and don't be a part of denominationalism.
  • Don't make fake accounts which impersonates any other individual or any company. 
  • Never demean or spread hate about any state official on social media. 
  • Respect the privacy of others. 
  • Don't spread rumours.
  • Don't use banned social media sites. 
  • Don't share your passwords or OTPs with anyone. 
  • Always stay in touch with your sponsor and don't run away from them.
  • Don't indulge in online or physical fights. 
  • Don't indulge in fraudulent employments, don't indulge in work if your visa does not allow it. 
  • For future cheques, make sure to have the amount in your bank account. 
  • Don't indulge in road rages. 
  • Don't indulge in drug usage and drug peddling. 
  • Don't indulge in gathering charity for non verified charities in the region.
