Dubai's Sustainable City to launch autonomous delivery robots
These efficient, safe, and environmentally friendly robots will be used for delivering food and other items within The Sustainable City community.
Dubai: The Sustainable City has introduced a pilot program featuring three autonomous delivery robots designed to transport items from local businesses to residents' homes.
This initiative, a collaboration with Dubai Future Labs and Lyve Global, aims to enhance efficiency, reduce traffic congestion, and minimize environmental impact.
The robots are expected to deliver orders within a 30-minute timeframe.
Robotic delivery
The robots, developed by Dubai Future Labs, will provide autonomous delivery services from all restaurants and shops within the plaza area to residents, utilizing a smart interface powered by Lyve Global.
The unique design of The Sustainable City, which is fully pedestrianized and car-free within the residential clusters, makes the community future-ready to smoothly adopt autonomous solutions.
A technological leap
Khalifa Al Qama, Director of Dubai Future Labs, emphasized the project's significance in advancing robotics technology within the transportation and logistics sectors. These robots are engineered to deliver orders within 30 minutes, navigate autonomously, and even locate charging stations independently.
He added that the project signifies a significant advancement in the continuous development of robotics technologies within the transportation, shipping, and logistics sectors in Dubai. This initiative underscores the city's commitment to leveraging technology to foster innovation and improve the overall quality of life.
