DUBAI: The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has announced that Sunday, March 30, 2025, will be the first day of Eid Al Fitr, following the official sighting of the Shawwal crescent moon on Saturday evening.

The moon-sighting committee, convened after Maghrib prayers, confirmed the new lunar month, marking the conclusion of Ramadan after 29 days of fasting.

Saturday would be the final day of Ramadan, with Eid celebrations beginning on Sunday across the country, according to WAM.

The announcement aligns with Islamic traditions, where the sighting of the crescent moon determines the start of a new month in the Hijri calendar.

This year, Ramadan lasted for 29 days, as per lunar calculations, bringing the holy month of fasting, prayer, and spiritual reflection to an end.
