DUBAI: The UAE is gearing up for Eid Al Fitr 2025, one of the most significant occasions in the Islamic calendar, with prayers scheduled at mosques and outdoor Musallas across the country.

Authorities have ensured worshippers can observe this special day without disruptions.

The Shawwal Moon-Sighting Committee will convene today, March 29, to determine whether Eid will begin on Sunday, March 30, or Monday, March 31. The official decision will be announced after Maghrib prayers that evening.

Eid prayer timings

Eid Al Fitr prayers will commence early in the morning, approximately 15 to 20 minutes after sunrise. The confirmed timings for each emirate are:

  • Abu Dhabi: 6:32AM
  • Al Ain: 6:23AM
  • Dubai: 6:30AM
  • Sharjah & Ajman: 6:28AM
  • Umm Al Quwain: 6:27AM
  • Ras Al Khaimah: 6:25AM
  • Fujairah: 6:25AM

Worshippers are advised to arrive early to secure a spot, as large congregations are expected at mosques and Musallas.

Arrangement across UAE

Authorities have taken measures to facilitate a seamless experience for worshippers. Volunteers and security personnel will oversee entry and exit points to prevent congestion and ensure smooth crowd movement.

The Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department (IACAD) in Dubai has announced that over 680 mosques and prayer sites are ready for the occasion, including 14 large designated Musallas across the emirate. Similar preparations are underway in other emirates.

Crescent moon sighting

The UAE Council for Fatwa has urged citizens and residents to observe the crescent moon on Saturday evening. The Shawwal Moon-Sighting Committee will confirm the official Eid start date based on testimonies received.

To report a sighting, individuals can contact the committee at 027774647 or submit observations via an official link provided by authorities. The use of artificial intelligence and drone technology will support moon-sighting efforts, reinforcing the UAE’s leadership in astronomical advancements.
