DUBAI: Mecca has unveiled the world’s largest barbershop, a facility designed to provide Hajj and Umrah pilgrims with fast and efficient grooming services just steps from the Grand Mosque.

Located in the Clock Towers complex, the sprawling barbershop is equipped with 170 chairs and has the capacity to serve over 15,000 visitors daily during its initial phase.

Each haircut takes an average of just three minutes, ensuring seamless service even during peak seasons.

Enhancing pilgrim services

The barbershop is part of a broader strategy to modernise and streamline services for the millions of visitors to Islam’s holiest site. It is integrated into a larger effort to upgrade the central barbershop zone in Mecca, ensuring high standards of hygiene, efficiency, and convenience.

The initiative aims to complement existing infrastructure projects, enhancing the overall experience for worshippers.

A vision for the future

This development aligns with Saudi Vision 2030, a nationwide plan to elevate Makkah’s readiness for the increasing number of pilgrims. The barbershop is part of a larger network of projects, including Masar Mecca, Jabal Omar, and Thakher Mecca, designed to modernise the city while preserving its spiritual significance.

By integrating cutting-edge services with centuries-old traditions, Mecca continues to position itself as both a sacred and smart city, ready to accommodate millions with greater efficiency.
