DUBAI: Emaar Properties has announced the completion of a transformative façade lighting upgrade for the Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building.

This state-of-the-art dynamic RGBW lighting system will debut during the UAE’s Eid Al Etihad celebrations on December 1, 2024, and continue to shine as the 829.8-metre tower celebrates its 15th anniversary on January 4, 2025.

The new lighting promises to elevate the tower’s iconic status, reinforcing Dubai’s position as a global leader in innovation and design.

Burj Khalifa’s Lighting Upgrade

The upgraded system incorporates dynamic RGBW technology, replacing the building’s previous static lights with addressable fixtures capable of producing a wide range of colours and complex lighting effects.

This upgrade aims to enhance both the aesthetics and experience of visitors, with the flexibility to adapt to various occasions, from festive displays to regular illuminations.

The new RGBW lighting system promises to elevate Dubai's status as a global architectural hub.

Emaar’s commitment to blending technology and artistry ensures the new lighting complements Burj Khalifa’s sleek design while enhancing its visual impact.

Ahmad Al Matrooshi, Executive Director at Emaar Properties, expressed that the lighting overhaul is a reflection of the company's relentless pursuit of excellence. The lighting overhaul process involved six months of testing and development to ensure the system’s seamless integration with the building’s façade. Emaar’s advanced RGBW system creates dynamic lighting scenes, providing a spectacle that adapts to the occasion. From daily illuminations to grand celebrations, the system promises to enhance Burj Khalifa’s global presence, showcasing Dubai’s architectural and technological prowess to the world.

Burj Khalifa, completed in 2010, is the world’s tallest building, standing at a staggering 829.8 metres (above 2722 feet) in height. Located in Dubai, UAE, it was designed by architect Adrian Smith and developed by Emaar Properties.

The skyscraper boasts 163 floors and is renowned for its sleek, modern design inspired by Islamic architecture. It features a mix of residential, commercial, and hospitality spaces, including the luxurious Atmosphere restaurant on the 122nd floor.
