Weather alert: Heavy rainfall expected in Oman as tropical storm ASNA approaches

Muscat: The Meteorological Department in Oman has issued a warning of dangerously high sea waves, ranging from 3 to 5 meters, along most of the Sultanate's coasts on September 1-2, 2024. Omanis are advised to avoid seaside activities during this period.
In a statement issued, the Oman Metrology Department said the center of the weather condition is approximately 900 km away from Ras Al Hadd in Wilayat of Sur.
On Sunday and Monday, rain of “varying intensity” will fall on the governorates of South Al Sharqiyah, North Al Sharqiyah, Muscat, and parts of South Al Batinah and Al Dakhiliyah Governorates.
The statement further mentioned a second scenario where the storm could shift towards the south or southwest, gradually weakening and moving away from the coasts of South Al Sharqiyah Governorate in the Arabian Sea. This could lead to scattered rainfall in the South Al Sharqiyah, North Al Sharqiyah, and Al Wusta Governorates.
The National Center for Early Warning of Multiple Hazards is closely monitoring the situation and issuing alerts as necessary.
