DUBAI: Careem Pay, the fintech arm of Careem, has unveiled a major benefit for its Careem Plus members – zero-fee remittances and exclusive exchange rates on international transfers.

First-time users transferring money to India and Pakistan are guaranteed better rates than those displayed on Google, making it one of the most cost-effective options for sending money abroad.

Near-instant transfers

Careem Pay facilitates quick and seamless transfers from the UAE to multiple destinations, including India, Pakistan, the Philippines, the UK, Europe, and Lebanon. More corridors are expected to be added soon.

Customers can send up to Dh450,000 per month, with a per-transaction limit of Dh150,000. In 2024, Careem Pay processed a transfer in just 11 seconds, highlighting its efficiency in cross-border payments.

Maximising member savings

Mohammad El Saadi, VP of Careem Pay, stated: “Traditional remittance providers charge high fixed fees per transaction. By removing these fees for Careem Plus members and offering exclusive exchange rates, we are ensuring customers save more with every transfer. New users can also benefit from rates better than Google’s for transactions to India and Pakistan.”

Careem Plus members already enjoy benefits worth over Dh300 per month, including free deliveries, cashback on rides, and discounts on food, groceries, home cleaning, and more. The new remittance feature further enhances these savings, allowing users to maximise their financial benefits.

A Careem Pay transaction set a new record in 2024 with an international transfer completed in just 11 seconds, showcasing the platform's speed and reliability.

Record-breaking savings

One Careem Plus member saved over Dh12,000 in 2024, while another cut Dh7,300 off a single dining bill of Dh25,000 at Kempinski The Palm using Careem DineOut.

To access the new remittance benefits, users must download the latest version of the Careem app and select ‘Send Money’ from the home screen.
