DUBAI: The BMW iX, an all-electric Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV), is set to redefine luxury and performance in the Middle East.
With an extended WLTP range of up to 700 kilometres, this latest model showcases BMW's commitment to electric mobility, combining cutting-edge technology with an aerodynamic design.
The enhanced BMW iX will be available in the region from the second quarter of 2025 in three variants: the BMW iX xDrive45, BMW iX xDrive60, and the high-performance BMW iX M70 xDrive.
Bold exterior design
The new BMW iX boasts a commanding presence, featuring a monolithic design with sharp contours and a redefined BMW kidney grille. This grille now includes a filigree frame with an intricate pattern of vertical and diagonal lines. For those seeking a striking aesthetic, the BMW Iconic Glow kidney grille with contour lighting is available as an option.
Redesigned headlights incorporate vertical daytime running lights and turn indicators, while standard adaptive LED headlights offer enhanced visibility. The front and rear aprons exhibit a seamless design, increasing the body-coloured surface area for a sportier appearance. The M Sport package, now an option for the BMW iX, introduces prominent air intakes, vertical reflectors, and dark M Shadow Line lighting elements.
Buyers can choose from an expanded range of colours, including Arctic Race Blue metallic, Dune Grey metallic, Carbon Black metallic, and BMW Individual Frozen Deep Grey metallic. The BMW Individual Exterior Line Titanium Bronze is also an optional finish for the BMW iX xDrive45 and iX xDrive60 models.
Electrifying performance
Every BMW iX variant features dual electric motors and all-wheel drive, optimised for superior acceleration and efficiency. The BMW iX xDrive45 now delivers 408hp, reducing its 0-100 km/h sprint time to 5.1 seconds. The BMW iX xDrive60 gains an increase to 544hp, reaching 100 km/h in just 4.6 seconds.
The flagship BMW iX M70 xDrive offers exceptional performance, producing up to 659hp in My Mode Sport with 1,100 Nm of torque when Launch Control is engaged. This enables acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in a mere 3.8 seconds. Using the "1-foot rollout" method, the sprint time improves to 3.5 seconds, while top speed is electronically limited to 250 km/h.
Industry-leading range
The BMW iX sets new benchmarks with its battery technology. The xDrive45 variant now boasts a 94.8 kWh battery, increasing range by 30% to between 490 and 602 kilometres. The xDrive60 features a 109.1 kWh battery, achieving a WLTP range of 563 to 701 kilometres. The BMW iX M70 xDrive, despite its high performance, still offers an impressive range of 521 to 600 kilometres.
Adaptive recuperation technology enhances efficiency, while the MAX RANGE function can boost available driving distance by up to 25% before the next charging stop.
Next-level charging capabilities
The BMW iX introduces enhanced charging solutions for the Middle East market. The xDrive45 now supports DC fast charging at 175 kW, while the xDrive60 and M70 xDrive models can charge at 195 kW. This enables rapid recharging, with optimised pre-conditioning and heat management ensuring peak efficiency.
The new BMW iX also integrates smart route planning via the My BMW App. Drivers can enter destinations, preferred charging providers, and desired charge levels upon arrival, while BMW Maps optimises routes based on real-time charging station availability.
Advanced suspension and driving dynamics
BMW has fine-tuned the chassis and suspension of the iX to balance sportiness and comfort. A hydraulic rear axle support enhances stability, while new wheel bearings and low rolling resistance tyres improve efficiency. The M70 xDrive variant benefits from adaptive two-axle ride level control, M-specific tuning, and a high-performance braking system.
Wheel options include 21-inch and 22-inch M light-alloy variants, as well as newly available 23-inch wheels, offering an unprecedented choice in this segment. The latter features integrated foam absorbers to reduce road noise, enhancing cabin comfort.
Cutting-edge assistance systems
The BMW iX is equipped with an extensive suite of driver assistance features. Standard equipment includes Driving Assistant Plus with Active Cruise Control (operational up to 180 km/h), front collision warning, and Parking Assistant with Reversing Assistant.
For an enhanced driving experience, the optional Parking Assistant Professional allows drivers to control parking manoeuvres remotely via their smartphone.
A luxurious and intelligent interior
Inside, the BMW iX blends luxury with cutting-edge technology. The spacious cabin features the new M Sport package, which includes M multifunction seats in microfibre/Sensatec or natural leather, an M leather steering wheel, Dark Silver trim, and an anthracite headliner.
Standard interior features include an advanced alarm system, Welcome and Goodbye animations, Comfort Access, and the BMW Live Cockpit Professional with a Harman Kardon Surround Sound System. The BMW iX M70 xDrive further enhances the experience with Integral Active Steering, adaptive two-axle ride level control, and an M Sport Pro package.
Optional features include a Sky Lounge panoramic glass roof, automatic soft-close doors, active seat ventilation, the Heat Comfort package, and a Bowers & Wilkins Diamond Surround Sound System.
Innovative BMW iDrive system
The BMW iX operates on BMW’s latest Operating System 8.5, offering seamless interaction via the BMW Curved Display and voice control through the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant. 5G connectivity ensures smooth integration of digital services, while the My BMW App personalises the user experience.
The BMW Digital Key allows drivers to use their smartphone for keyless entry and ignition, while the new Setup Card simplifies initial configuration.
