Riyadh:  Saudi Press Agency announced the design for the King Salman Stadium, set to become the heart of Saudi Arabia’s national football activities and a premier venue for major sporting events.

Located in northern Riyadh on King Salman Road, adjacent to King Abdulaziz Park, the stadium promises to be a central hub for both local and international events.

Positioned near King Khalid International Airport and well-connected to Riyadh Train Station and major roads, the venue is set to be highly accessible for visitors and participants alike, enhancing its role as a major sporting landmark.

Innovative and sustainable design

Chosen from a competitive selection and submitted by six international firms, the stadium’s design aligns with FIFA’s requirements and sets new standards in sustainability and architectural excellence.

The stadium, expected to be completed by the end of 2029, will feature green walls and roofs, spanning 96,500 square meters. Its design reflects local urbanism and adheres to environmental sustainability goals, ensuring it meets the highest standards of green building practices.

The capacity of the main stadium will be 92,000 seats and it will include a royal box that accommodates 150 seats, 120 hospitality suites, 300 seats for important people, and 2,200 VIP seats.

A comprehensive sports and leisure destination

The stadium will also feature recreational areas such as shopping centers, playing fields, internal gardens, and a walking path on the roof offering panoramic views of King Abdulaziz Park.

Future prospects

As the countdown to its completion begins, anticipation builds for the role the stadium will play in the nation’s sporting and cultural future.
