Dubai: DP World, a leader in global supply chain solutions, has hit a six with the International Cricket Council (ICC) by expanding its existing partnership. This exciting development marks a significant moment in their journey together, solidifying their commitment to cricket's global growth.
Grassroots to grand stages: A partnership in action
Since their initial alliance in June 2023, DP World and the ICC have been a well-oiled machine. They've provided vital support at both ends of the cricketing spectrum – facilitating the distribution of equipment to budding young players and ensuring seamless logistics for major ICC events. This latest move sees DP World ascend to the prestigious Premier Partner tier within the ICC's portfolio, demonstrating their unwavering dedication to the sport.
Perfect timing for a World Cup partnership
The announcement couldn't have come at a better time. It coincides with the highly anticipated ICC Men's T20 World Cup, which will see 55 matches played across nine locations in the USA and West Indies from June 1st to 29th. Notably, a historic moment unfolds as 16 group-stage matches will be held in the United States, marking the first time the ICC World Cup graces American soil.
DP World: The unsung hero of the World Cup
DP World's role in the upcoming World Cup is already playing a crucial role. Their expertise has been instrumental in transporting 10 meticulously nurtured grass pitches, cultivated in Florida, a whopping 1,200 miles to their new home – the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York. These pitches, created using advanced techniques by US-based turf experts, arrived safely thanks to DP World's advanced logistics capabilities, ensuring both efficiency and sustainability.
Beyond boundaries: Empowering cricket at the grassroots
DP World's commitment extends far beyond the glitz of major tournaments. Through their impactful Beyond Boundaries Initiative, launched in 2023, they're using their global reach (present in 75 countries across six continents) to nurture the sport at the grassroots level. This initiative empowers communities by delivering cricket kits and equipment via repurposed shipping containers. Over 2,500 kits have already been pledged, with 1,750 already delivered to aspiring cricketers in India, South Africa, and the UAE.
A shared passion for cricket's future
Both DP World and the ICC are thrilled about the expanded partnership. Daniel van Otterdijk, Chief Communications Officer at DP World, highlighted the collaborative spirit, stating, "Our partnership allows people across the world to enjoy cricket at every level." Anurag Dahiya, ICC Chief Commercial Officer, echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the importance of such partnerships in expanding cricket's global reach.
Beyond Logistics: Delivering the match ball and trophy your
DP World's involvement goes beyond logistics for the upcoming World Cup. They'll be proudly delivering the match ball for each of the 55 games and presenting the coveted Trophy Tour. This exciting partnership, spanning the next four years, will also encompass the ICC Women's T20 World Cup in Bangladesh later this year, promising a vibrant future for cricket on the international stage.
