A guide to road closures, parking, and record-breaking fireworks
As the countdown to 2025 begins, Ras Al Khaimah is ready to dazzle with a spectacular New Year’s Eve celebration, joining Dubai and other UAE emirates in offering an unforgettable experience for residents and visitors alike.
To ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience, authorities have announced road closures, safety measures, and mandatory pre-registration for parking.
Whether you plan to marvel at the main event or explore other activities, here’s your complete guide to celebrating New Year’s Eve in Ras Al Khaimah.
Road closures
Ras Al Khaimah Police have announced road closures starting at 2:00 PM on December 31 to manage the expected crowds. Emirates Roundabout, Union Bridge, Al Hamra Roundabout, and Cove Rotana Bridge are among the affected routes. Motorists are encouraged to use alternative paths and plan their trips in advance.
Emergency services
Safety remains a top priority, with emergency services fully mobilised for the night.
Key numbers include 999 for emergencies, 998 for ambulance services, and additional helplines for event-related assistance.
NYE fireworks, laser and drone shows
The night’s highlight, Our Story in the Sky, aims to set new Guinness World Records. The 15-minute show will light up the skies along the waterfront between Al Marjan Island and Al Hamra Village, combining vibrant fireworks, intricate drone displays, and cutting-edge laser effects in three mesmerising segments.
An additional fireworks display at 8 PM in the city centre provides an alternative for those unable to attend the main event. Prime viewing locations include Manar Mall and the Corniche, ensuring everyone can partake in the celebrations.
Ras Al Khaimah already holds a number of Guinness World Records for previous editions of its awe-inspiring New Year pyrotechnic display. Watched by thousands of viewers along the beachfront, the emirate embraced 2022 with a breath-taking firework show, employing over 15,000 effects and 452 firework drones. With that, the astonishing 2022 display entered the record books with two new Guinness World Records titles for the ‘Most Remote Operated Multirotors/Drones Launching Fireworks Simultaneously’ and ‘Highest Altitude Multirotor/Drone Firework Display’.
RAK NYE Festival
The RAK NYE Festival, starting at 3 PM, offers entertainment for everyone, including DJ performances, food trucks, and dedicated kids’ zones. Families can enjoy the festive atmosphere while gearing up for the midnight show.
Camping and BBQ spots
For those seeking a unique experience, camping facilities are available at Rams Parking and Dhaya zones. Equipped with BBQ setups, these areas offer spectacular views of the fireworks.
Visitors are encouraged to arrive early as spaces operate on a first-come, first-served basis.
Plan ahead: Parking and access
Pre-registration for parking at Al Marjan Island is mandatory, with access restricted to registered vehicles after 2 PM. Early planning ensures a hassle-free celebration.
